On Wednesday, authorities said, a kid at a high school in Boston’s Back Bay was discovered in possession of a loaded firearm.
The pupil was discovered on school property carrying a gun, and Snowden International School was placed under lockdown for approximately an hour, according to a message from the school’s head to the community. Nobody was harmed.
After being notified at approximately 11:45 a.m., Boston police confirmed that they had arrested a 15-year-old boy who had a gun in his backpack near the address of the school that is next to Copley Square, which is 150 Newbury Street.
Employees informed cops that they had been informed a student may possess a pistol, and they later discovered one within the rucksack. Ten rounds were in the gun’s magazine when detectives discovered it to be a Taurus, according to the police.
Due to the occurrence, the adolescent, who has not been named, is charged with multiple firearms offenses. He is anticipated to appear in Boston Juvenile District Court with them.
According to a statement sent to families by Snowden’s head of school Raquel Martinez, the kid will also be disciplined in accordance with the Boston Public Schools Code of Conduct.
“I commend those who immediately reported the firearm to a trusted adult and are grateful to school staff, Safety Specialists, and BPD officers who followed all of our safety protocols and helped manage through a challenging moment,” she said.
The lockdown took about an hour, and police swept the school with police dogs, Martinez said.
