2023 Partners for Youth/Toyota Scholarship Recipients Revealed

The Partners for Youth/Toyota Scholarship has been awarded to ten high school seniors and college freshmen. Recipients were honored at the Lexington Senior Center during the 2023 Partners for Youth/Toyota Scholarship Banquet. Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky, the Lexington-Fayette County Urban Government, and Holifield Photography collaborated to make this event possible.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky donated to the Partners for Youth/Toyota Scholarship program in 1998. Youth that participate in Partners for Youth Grassroots Allocations Program activities or our Neighborhood Youth Councils are eligible to be nominated.

Scholarships may be utilized for any postsecondary education program that encourages beneficiaries to further their studies. Toyota’s generosity allows up to ten kids to win $1,000 – $1,500 scholarships each year.

About Partners for Youth

Partners for Youth (PFY), a Lexington-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, acts as a clearinghouse for community contributions, including money and in-kind assistance to those programs serving young people. PFY assists in coordinating these services for programs to work as cooperatively and effectively as possible to have the greatest impact in supporting youth. PFY was founded by Mayor Pam Miller in early 1995 after the shooting and killing of an African American youth by a white police officer in October 1994. In the wake of this tragedy, public discussion quickly took aim at the apparent despair felt by segments of our city’s youth. In response, PFY was formed to make resources available to youth in these forgotten segments of the Lexington population. For more information, contact Shanreka Shackelford at (859) 280-8003.
