In case you are a junior in high school and plan to participate in either the Auxiliary Girls State or Boys State program this summer, you can qualify for the Samsung American Legion Scholarship.
High school juniors who participate in the current session of American Legion Boys State or Auxiliary Girls State and who are the legal child of a U.S. military veteran who served honorably on active duty during a period of war (April 6, 1917–Nov. 11, 1918; or Dec. 7, 1941, until a date as determined by Congress) are eligible to apply for the Samsung American Legion Scholarship.
The 2024 Samsung American Legion Scholarship application is online. Apply here.
The online application system must be used to submit all applications. Applicants for scholarships must finish and submit their online applications before Day 1 of their respective American Legion Auxiliary Girls State or American Legion Boys State programs at 11:59 p.m. (local time).
The scholarship covers accommodation and board, tuition, and books for undergraduate study, with a maximum payout of $10,000. Each applicant is chosen based on their academic standing, financial need, and interest in community and school activities.
Each state’s participant in Boys and Girls State determines who advances to the Samsung American Legion Scholarship finals. The scholarship recipients will be chosen by the Committee on Youth Education in October 2024, during the American Legion’s Fall Meetings. Notification of the awards will be sent to each scholarship recipient.
