Applications for the British Council Great Scholarships at the University of Edinburgh now Open

The University of Edinburgh GREAT Scholarships program is part of the British Council’s Study UK initiative, helping students from certain countries gain access to world-class education at top UK universities. This programme allows students from over 18 countries to pursue a Master’s degree at one of the UK’s more than 150 participating universities.

This year, the British Council is working with the University of Edinburgh to provide five GREAT scholarships to applicants from four countries: Ghana, Malaysia, Mexico, Vietnam, and Turkey. Applicants must be pursuing an eligible one-year Master’s (Postgraduate) degree programme.

The scholarship is based on merit. Therefore, the top prospects will be chosen for consideration. The University of Edinburgh will choose one scholarship recipient from each participating country. Prepare for the next 2024 academic year, which begins in September.

Benefits

The benefits of the scholarships are as below

  • The scholarship aims to offer financial grant worth a minimum of £10,000
  • This financial grant is to be used a contribution towards your tuition fees
  • The scholarship is offered for one year, for a one year postgraduate programme

Eligibility

  • Applicants for the scholarships must be nationals and residents of Ghana, Malaysia, Mexico, Vietnam and Türkiye
  • To be considered, you must have apply and receive admission for full-time one-year postgraduate Masters programme of study.
  • The scholarship will be offered based on academic merit, therefore you must have obtained equivalent of a UK first-class honours degree.

Application

To be considered for the scholarship, you must first apply for admission to an approved Master’s degree program at the University of Edinburgh. Applications for admission can be filed electronically through the online application portal.

After receiving your admission offer, you must complete the online scholarship application. The deadline for submission is May 15, 2024. Applicants must first create a username and password, log onto the system, and then fill out their application.
