Heather Hays Stinnett, former president of the Colorado CattleWomen, will be honored with the organization’s first CattleWomen Legacy Scholarship.
The grant will go to a woman pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Stinnett was a fervent supporter of the beef business and a proud fifth-generation Coloradan, tracing her cattle industry roots back to early Colorado statehood and ranches homesteaded by relatives on both sides of her family. Her agricultural credentials include being a Colorado FFA reporter, judging livestock at Seward Community College, and graduating from Oklahoma State University with degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Communication. She and her family maintained a feed store, farmed commercial cattle, and ran a custom grazing operation.
Stinnett was President of the CCW from 2017 to 2019. In 2019, she chaired the American National Cattlewomen’s Board of Directors. She passed away in 2021.
Applications for the scholarship are being taken until April 1, 2024, and will be granted in June at the 2024 Colorado CattleWomen annual meeting in Colorado Springs. Women who are Colorado residents, juniors, seniors, or graduate students at an approved four-year institution or college majoring in agriculture or an agricultural-related major, who want to work in or advocate for the cattle industry, are urged to apply.
