Join the EmPowerSV Video Scholarship Competition: Submissions Welcome!

Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is offering $20,000 scholarships for the spring EmPower Silicon Valley short video competition. Local kids are urged to use video to release their creativity and explore the world of clean, efficient, all-electric technologies, with the chance to earn up to $3,000 in scholarship funds.

The EmPowerSV Short Video Competition is accessible to middle and high school students from SVCE’s 13 towns.

“This initiative goes beyond competition—it showcases SVCE’s dedication to inspiring a brighter future for Silicon Valley,” said Tina Walia, SVCE Board Chair and Saratoga Councilmember. “These videos ignite change and creativity among our eager and engaged youth.”

From supporting the induction cooktop to creating tunes for heat pump water heaters, this year’s competition should emphasize inventiveness. Participants can choose from three interesting prompts to help lead their contributions before the May 3 deadline.

In June, the winners will be inducted into the SVCE Hall of Fame. A total of eight movies will receive $2,000 or $3,000 scholarship prizes for excellence in each challenge and creative presentation.
