On Tuesday, the SEC announced that graduate student Mitch Weber had been named Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The graduate student from Saint Clair, Minnesota is a top thrower in Missouri track and field history, as well as an outstanding academic performer. Weber is presently pursuing a graduate certificate in global supply chain management, and he has a flawless 4.0 GPA. Weber graduated with an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering last year and has been named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll three times in a row.
Weber has earned two podium finishes at the SEC Outdoor Championships during his four-plus years as a Tiger, capturing the 2022 SEC discus title and finished second in the event in 2021. He has also qualified for the 2021 NCAA Championships in discus, having competed in the NCAA West Region Preliminaries the previous three seasons. Weber won ten event titles and finished in the top five forty times throughout his collegiate career.
Weber has set records in both indoor and outdoor track & field at Mizzou. Weber’s 60.99m (200-1) discus throw during the Mizzou Spring Opener on March 20, 2021, ranks second in program history. The graduate student also moved up to fifth place on the program’s men’s weight throw leaderboard with a 21.33m (69-11.75) toss two weeks ago at the Music City Challenge.
