    Eligibility: To be eligible for this award, applicants must;

    • be a domestic or international student enrolled in an HDR course of study at Deakin University
    • have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies
    • not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR fees
    • meet all other minimum entry requirements according to the Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection and Enrolment Procedure.
    • not be receiving income from another source to support that student’s general living costs while undertaking their course of study if that income is greater than 75 per cent of that student’s RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate. Income unrelated to the student’s course of study or income received for the student’s course of study but not for the purposes of supporting general living costs is not to be taken into account.

    Australian culture is as broad and varied as the country’s landscape. Australia is multicultural and multiracial and this is reflected in the country’s food, lifestyle and cultural practices and experience. Australia has an important heritage from its Indigenous people, which plays a defining role in the cultural landscape.

    PhD and research degree scholarships can cover tuition fees, overseas student health cover, living allowances paid as stipends and relocation allowances.

    Applications for Griffith scholarships and Australian Government Research Training scholarships are considered through a competitive, merit-based selection process, with scholarships awarded throughout the year.

    Requirements:

    To be eligible for Australian Government Research Training Program, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:

    • Applicants must be international students
    • Applicants must be commencing or enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research program (for which RTP support is available) at Griffith University.
    • Applicants must not be receiving income from another source to support their general living costs that provides a benefit greater than 75% of the RTP stipend.
    • Income unrelated to the candidate’s research program, or income received for the candidate’s research program but not for the purposes of supporting general living costs, is not to be taken into account.

    Duration and Reward: The Australian Government Research Training Program Stipend Scholarship provides a living allowance of AUD $28,854 (2022 rate, indexed annually) per annum; paid as a fortnightly stipend.

    Scholarship Duration and Reward

    • A tuition-fee waiver of up to $2,500 will be awarded each semester to commencing undergraduate and postgraduate students
    • The maximum value of the scholarships are
      1. Undergraduate 3 year degree $15,000
      2. Undergraduate 4 year double degree $20,000
      3. Postgraduate 2 year degree $10,000
    • For students commencing in July 2019 the semester value will be $1,500 for undergraduate students and $2,000 for postgraduate students.
