UC Irvine’s School of Law and the Point Foundation have launched a scholarship program to assist Point graduates and alumni in obtaining an affordable legal education. Successful applicants will receive a $30,000 annual scholarship as well as help from OutLaw at UCI Law, a student group that fosters civic and social activities by and for the LGBTQIA community.

Point is the largest nonprofit organization in the country dedicated to assisting LGBTQ students studying on universities around the United States. UCI Law’s key principles include public service, pro bono, experiential learning, and a founding objective of providing marginalized students with access to legal school. This year, 30% of UCI School of Law’s 2026 J.D. students identify as LGBTQIA, with more than 25% identifying as first-generation college students.

“The collaboration between UCI Law and Point Foundation exemplifies our shared commitment to academic excellence, while increasing access to higher education and helping students succeed,” said Austen Parrish, dean of the School of Law and Chancellor’s Professor of Law. “Point’s focus on mentorship and community is ideally aligned with UCI Law’s dedication to giving back. We’re proud of this collaboration, which will provide a path to law school for bright Point Scholars.”
