UK: Virtual Law School Launches ‘Open to All Scholarship’

The Law Training Centre (LTC) has established a new scholarship to assist and encourage prospective lawyers from a wider spectrum of socioeconomic backgrounds.

The ‘Open to All Scholarship’ is accessible to Law Training Centre students pursuing credentials such as the Solicitors Qualifying Exam and Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) paths, as well as conveyancing law degrees. It is open to anyone who cannot pay the course fees and aims to make a legal career accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.

Students will be able to apply for the scholarship throughout the year beginning August 1. The organization thinks that this scholarship is the first of its type, with an application process meant to be as non-invasive as possible and no set application deadlines.

Recipients will receive a grant of up to £1,558, one-on-one tutor help, and a personal academic coach, depending on the degree they choose.

The only requirement is that applicants not already be LTC scholarship holders. It was previously stated that the LTC’s Access to Law SQE Scholarship had been awarded to 97 applicants for a total of £100,000 in study expenses.

Eve Dullabh, Law Training Centre’s co-founder and director of education, commented:

“We’ve personally experienced how invasive a lot of scholarship and bursary applications are, which can be discouraging, so we wanted to take a completely different approach. Given the cost-of-living crisis and the urgent need to address diversity in the legal sector, we’re really pleased to be able to help by offering this scholarship to help learners build a career in law. We’re keen to say yes wherever possible, so we encourage anyone who wants to study with us but doesn’t feel able to afford it to apply.”

Dullabh, a former lawyer, and her partner Dino co-founded the LTC in 2015, and it is arguably best recognized for its spectrum of courses oriented toward paralegals, chartered legal executives, and licensed conveyancers.

It provides a variety of SQE courses, with prices for the SQE1 complete prep course starting at £1,950 and SQE2 starting at £2,500. LTC offers SQE express prep courses, which can be completed in nine months, for students wishing to earn their SQE1 and 2 in a quicker timeframe.
