Wake Tech Provost Selected as 2024-25 Fulbright U.S. Scholar

Wake Tech is pleased to announce that Dr. Keith Babuszczak, provost for IT Programs and the RTP Campus, has been named a 2024-25 Fulbright U.S. Scholar for the famous Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Program in India.

Fulbright Scholar Awards are competitive fellowships that offer scholars unique chances to teach and undertake research abroad. Fulbright Scholars also serve an important role in US public diplomacy by fostering long-term partnerships between people and nations.

Babuszczak is among a prominent group of teachers and administrators who will travel to India from March 8-24 to tour colleges and universities in and around Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad, as well as participate in cultural excursions and presentations.

He expresses enthusiasm at the opportunity to learn about the country’s higher education institutions.

“Wake Tech serves a diverse student body, and many of our industry partners have a strong presence in India,” he went on to say. “Wake Tech’s RTP Campus in Morrisville is an anchor of the community, and people of Indian descent make up over a third of the town’s population, so I especially want to use this trip to learn more about Indian life and culture.”

Babuszczak aims to use what he learns on the trip to help build foreign seminars, broaden the global view of the IT curriculum, and organize collaborative activities with Indian students and institutions.

“We’re very proud of Keith and thankful to have his great leadership at Wake Tech,” stated Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls. “This opportunity to visit and study in India is a great opportunity for both him and Wake Tech.”

Fulbright Scholars are chosen based on their academic and professional accomplishments, as well as their track record of service and leadership in their fields.

Babuszczak, an Eagle Scout, earned his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He received a master’s degree in information science and learning technologies from the University of Missouri and a doctorate in education from Sage College in Albany, New York.

He is Wake Technology’s third Fulbright Scholar. Princess Solomon, Director of International Services and Admissions Records, was chosen for the program in 2019. Santrell Caison, the Dean of Admissions and Outreach, was named a Fulbright Scholar in 2011.

The Fulbright Program has produced 62 Nobel Laureates, 89 Pulitzer Prize winners, 80 MacArthur Fellows, and thousands of leaders and world-renowned professionals in academia and other fields throughout the business, public, and nonprofit sectors.
