The LCS Foundation has partnered with Washington State University’s Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living (GCISL) to offer an annual scholarship. GCISL was founded in 2018 to develop the future senior living workforce through academic programs, industrial collaborations, and research.
“The LCS Foundation and the Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living share a passion for investing in the future leaders of senior living,” stated Zane Bennett, an LCS Foundation board member. “As the demand for talent in our industry grows, we are excited to support GCISL’s innovative curriculum and look forward to awarding the first LCS Foundation scholarship later this year.”
Before graduating, the GCISL senior living management program equips students with industry-driven courses, experiential learning, community operations skills, and connections to industry experts.
“The industry has supported our efforts since day one,” said Nancy Swanger, founder and CEO of GCISL, “and the establishment of this scholarship at Washington State University by the LCS Foundation is such a blessing for our students.”
The Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living is named after the late Granger Cobb, a pioneer in the senior living sector. Cobb’s career-long commitment and enthusiasm for seniors is mirrored in the institute that now bears his name, which he founded in 1989 and is the CEO of Emeritus as well as a Brookdale board member.
Since its start in 2017, the LCS Foundation has provided over $450,000 in scholarships and professional development programs. The Foundation has collegiate connections with the University of Northern Iowa, Northwood University, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The collaborations have placed senior life experts on advisory boards, created curricula, and assisted in providing students with encounters that enhance their learning.
